Privacy Policy

Pocket Vows helps you write, polish, and print your wedding vows. It is local-first and private by design. You can use the entire app without an account, and without an account your writing stays on your device. Creating an account is optional, it backs up and syncs your vows across your devices and unlocks the optional co-writer described below.

What we collect

Without an account: nothing. Your vows, drafts, ideas, and notes stay in your device’s local storage. We do not receive them.

With an account (optional): your email address (to create and sign in to your account) and the content you create in the app, vows, drafts, ideas, notes, and settings such as your wedding date, so we can back it up and sync it to your other devices.

How we use your information

Solely to provide the app: signing you in, backing up your writing, and syncing it across your devices. We do not sell or rent your data, show advertising, or use third-party analytics or tracking. We do not use your vows to train any model.

The co-writer (optional)

Pocket Vows offers an optional co-writer, powered by AI, such as “Draft it for me,” Tighten, Adjust tone, Cliché check, and Interview me. These require an account and only run when you choose to use one. When you do, the specific text you’re working on is sent over an encrypted connection to our AI provider, Anthropic, which generates the result and returns it. Your writing is used only to produce that result, it is not used to train any AI model. If you never use the co-writer, none of your writing is ever sent for processing.

Purchases

Pocket Vows Premium is a one-time purchase. On iOS, payment is processed by Apple; on the web, it is processed by our payment partners RevenueCat and Stripe. These processors receive what they need to complete the purchase, such as your email address, an account identifier, and your payment details. We never see or store your card number. We keep a record that your account has premium (your purchase history with us) so your purchase works on every device you sign in to.

Website analytics

On pocketvows.com only, we use PostHog to understand what to improve. We count anonymous, aggregated usage — pages viewed, the site that referred you, and a few product events like starting a draft, using the co-writer, or seeing the upgrade screen. These events never include your writing or anything you type, and we don’t attach your name or email to them. We honor your browser’s Do-Not-Track setting, we don’t record your screen or clicks, and we don’t track you across other sites. The iOS app contains no analytics at all.

Where your data is stored

Account data is stored with our cloud provider, Supabase, and protected by row-level security so that only you, signed in to your account, can access your rows. Data is sent over encrypted connections.

Deleting your data

You can permanently delete your account at any time in the app: open the account menu and choose Delete account. This removes your account and all synced data from our cloud, on every device. You can also remove local data at any time by deleting the app or clearing its data. To request help with deletion, email us at the address below.

Children

Pocket Vows is not directed to children and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes, we’ll update this page and revise the effective date above.
